Common Questions

Therapy is a partnership between you and I. It is a safe, non-judgemental place to talk about the things that are hurting you and causing problems in your life. You only know what you know, meaning that you might come in because you are extremely anxious but might not know where it’s coming from. Let me reassure you. Nothing comes from nowhere. You and I will unpack your life to find the source and learn new ways of thinking and doing. Therapy can bring up strong feelings, memories and emotions, but to work through the problems you have to work through the emotions and you are not alone. While therapy is not a cure-all, it is a way to heal and to learn how to be your own therapist/advocate, moving forward and to become more of the person that God has created you to be.

Each session is 55 minutes unless otherwise discussed.

I am private pay.  However, services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan for out-of-network providers. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
Will they provide payments for out-of-network providers?
How much does my insurance carrier pay for out-of-network providers?
What documentation will they require for out-of-network reimbursement?
Is approval required from my primary care physician?

This depends upon your situation, needs and budget. Generally, we meet once a week in the beginning or twice a month. The reason for this is to gain support and traction in using the tools that you will gain in therapy. The frequency decreases as healing takes place. This is your process.

What we discuss in sessions is confidential. If you are seeing or have seen other healthcare providers concerning your mental health, it can be helpful for you to give the provider a release of information so that I can have a complete picture of what you have been going through. It is up to you however. The only moment where confidentiality does not apply is if you are actively homicidal or suicidal, meaning that you have a concrete plan and the means to carry either out. Confidentiality does not apply in those cases. The other instance would be if I receive a court order from a judge. Other than those specific instances, our sessions are solely between us.

After we book our first appointment, scheduling and clarifications/questions can occur in a timelier manner via text messaging.

As a licensed LPC, I charge $150 an hour.
Not everyone is a good fit. I offer a free 30 minute consultation via phone, telehealth, or in person, so that you can decide if I am the right therapist for you and if you are comfortable and can be honest with me.

The number of sessions will depend upon your needs. Dealing with divorce, a life stage change, or to gain clarity on a relationship, for instance, may take only a few session, while those persons with a history of childhood abuse or other trauma may need more time to work through and change habits formed in childhood. Generally, six sessions is the minimum.
